Celebrate Saka Dawa

SAKA DAWA
                                                          Saturday May 25, 2013

The SAKA DAWA is one of the most important and cherished Tibetan Buddhist festivals,
held each year on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar, to
celebrate Shakyamuni’s enlightenment.

Saka Dawa is the entire fourth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. The Buddha's
birth, enlightenment and entry into Nirvana at his death are observed together on
the 15th day of Saka Dawa, which in 2013 is May 25.

Saka Dawa is the holiest time of the Tibetan year and a peak time for pilgrimages.

This astounding festival is also known as the Festival for Releasing Living Things.
It is an auspicious date for practice and rejoicing!
