I pulled over and gently picked it up, amazed to see it was still alive. It broke a leg and I left my neighbor a note with my phone number. As a small flock keeper of free range hens, my heart was broken for it. I am not sure how things will progress, but I left it in a nest of cedar boughs to surround it for safety and keep the flock from disturbing it. In these moments, it is hard to have the license plate "GO LOVE" on my car. The one that just ran over the bird, but I did my best to GO LOVE anyway! The sun is brightly shining, but my day has had a bit of a dark cloud over it. I just scored some excellent U2 tixs for their opening night concert in Boston. I love their music and message and am deeply excited to be in the cosmic karmic aura of Bono and the boys.
GO LOVE in deed and word,
Lisa
What a heart sinker. Sorry your day started with such a disturbing event. Life is fragile and all we can do is go forward with love.
ReplyDeleteBig little sister hugs to you.
PS This is one of my favorite photos of you from our childhood. I love you in your crown and tutu!
I felt so bad for you and the chicken after reading about it on Caryn's blog. Let it go in knowing you did your loving best. Julie
ReplyDeleteI had a scarlet tanager fly in to my car a couple of years ago. Was very sad
ReplyDeleteand upset because I love birds and am very aware of the fragile line between
life and death. I wondered why it had to chose me!
A friend told me that the bird knew that I would care, that I would cry and
put it in a little nook in the woods.......and that I would appreciate the
life it had...that,for some reason, it was time for it to die.
Well,maybe it's nutty,but I felt better,but prefer that no living thing
chose me for this project again!
I hope your bird survived and, yes,by your thoughts and actions, you continue
to personify your "Go Love" philosophy....
Funny,I follow another blog and her latest one was about a partridge crossing the road...didn't get hit,but a bird/road story!
